Non starting 1000

This is what's confusing me, there's obviously power as the neutral light comes on and I can hear a relay click under the seat which I presume is the fuel pump relay.



This started out of the blue no prior warning or symptoms

probably the battery, volts are collapsing under starter load. Replace same.

If you've still got issues with a known-good battery then maybe check out the starter button/kill switch block next? Mine has developed a very, very occasional non-start which "feels" like it may be a slightly loose connection in there, but as it's only happened maybe 3 times for maybe 1 minute at a time it hasn't got to the top of the to-do list yet, I'd be interested to hear how your switch block internals are faring!

Going back to the original relay pic I *think* the clutch side relay is the fuel pump, the other black one inboard of that is for the injectors, the yellow one is the main relay, and the forward one is the indicators, but if anyone knows better then please speak up

Just a tip from what i have read on the tl forums regarding shutting down the engine after a ride, get into a habit of turning off from the key and not the kill switch, it does make a difference i believe .Sorry off topic a bit. New battery and work from there. These engines just dont like a battery without the full kick,i went with a lithium, no neeed to trickle charge and they stayed charged even when not in use for quite some time , also they retain the initial voltage when starting up rather than the standard batteries drop in voltage after the initial kickover. just my .02c

give the fuses a waggle, sometimes they get corroded.
when it wont start . whats the voltage on the red and yellow wires at the fuses?

Didn't have much time today as I was busy taking the Shogun apart to fix that

But had a little poke around with a multimeter and this is what I found,

Battery is fine and turns it over and starts it fine on the occasions that I get all the dash lights,
But when I just the neutral light (as in the picture) I'm only getting 4.5/5 volts at the yellow relay.

Need to look at a wiring diagram to see what's between the main relay and ignition switch

Been out to have another little fiddle with it and found that when it is having the fault if I pull the "ignition" fuse it all lights up as it should and then goes into fault again if I put the fuse back

Just tried the fuse thing again and it didn't work this time

Did you check the switch block yet?

That's next, going to start at the front and work my way back. Need to start being methodical with this

I think I may have this finally sussed out, I think the problem is the main relay is faulty. So now on the hunt for one.

Why do you think that?

I've checked and cleaned both switch gear, nothing obviously broken
Checked and cleaned the connectors under the tank, nothing obviously wrong with the wires or connectors.
Checked the fuses and fuse holder, nothing obviously wrong there either.
Checked, stripped and cleaned the ignition barrel.

I checked the terminals on the relay and one of them was only putting out about 5v, if I connect 12v to it all works perfectly
