Post by shedmonkey »

Does anyone have a list of model numbers for yam R1 with forks that are reasonably easy to fit to the rappy 1000?

Not sure of the raptor fork size but this chart is always useful.

Hey Glynn,

mine are from a 97-99 R1 which is a 4xv model.

I believe they yokes are unchanged and have heard of someone fitting later (up to 2003) model forks.

After 2003 they were completely differant so wont fit without major surgery!

Remember you will need the R1 spindle and spacers made, easiest to use R1 blue or gold spot brakes and they are better than the brembo`s to be honest anyway.

Ease of use and comparatively cheap now they are older model stuff.

They fit straight into raptor yokes with no work needed.

43mm GSX-R or ZX-R forks arent as reasonable as R1 forks ?

might be as reasonable but neither of those will fit straight into both yokes (they are differant on the raptor)

Correct if I'm wrong,
but doesnt chart above say that R1 and for example K1 GSX-R has the same top and bottom clamp diameters ?
So they should fit to Raptor yokes ?

R1 (97 -01) definately fit (02-03) not certain but have been told they do, that chart refers to 04-06 forks which definately dont fit a raptor!

I would have thought if some gsxr`s forks fitted someone would have already done it but i have never known it............
