R&G PROTECTORS - Something missing here?

Post by trix »

Helo rapters!

I just got my R&G protectors. BUT i suspect some items missing in the kit - It was not sealed when i got it

Can any raptor stars here confirm that this kit contains all of the items? The manufaktor does not answer my mails :!:

This is my first darln bike & am a spring-fresh mc driver so i dont have a clue how these should be, other than fit
which they dont. There has to be a piece that goes from the hole in the bike into the R&G plug? Are these the right plugs? it says so on the package, but i as i said it was opened, so i dont trust this...

Thank you kindly mentors

Not familiar with that brand, but they look ok to me. They are called "Mushrooms" for a reason. The little stem bolts against the frame so it sticks out like a "Mushroom". Personally, I would change the bolts to caphead bolts as they can be easier to deal with down the bottom of a dark hole.

I wouldn't change the bolts, in the event of them hitting down they're designed to deform and not transfer shock, so avoiding breaking the part they're bolted to (sorry if that's not very clear, it's the jist of what I was told by the designer when I had mine fitted at the R&G works)

Well it looks different to the kit for the Raptor thou I have, but you should have:
  • Instructions
  • 2x Polyurethane protectors
  • 2x Heat treated bolts and 2x washers
  • 2x R&G stickers/decals
That is from memory - I could have missed something. You certainly look to have all the important bits though.

You might need to file them a bit to get them to fit into the frame.

Thanks to all of you

So this seems like the kit i complete , one down two more to go :

how to make them fit.

One mushroom ( thank you ;) is a bit to narrow for the hole but can with a bit of patience
fit , and the other M is to small at the end and will not fit in there at all

i cant fasten any of the bolt it just spinns in there ..

You need to take some of the material away from it using a file on the narrow part of protector.

Oh, do you know the serial number of the ones you got?

The M "fits" on the left side, clutch side, of the bike but there are some space i have to fill in on the other side to
make the other M sit without falling out.

Sorry for my poor explanations here..

hope you understand

edit :

yes i got the instructions but it doesnt say anything about the modification im very surprised that i have to make them fit
thought they vere made to actually fit the bike :p

*sigh*

My 650 came with these RnGS fitted badly, both mushrooms had too short a stub to reach the bottom of the mounting point.
I used M12 washers to pack out the hole.
Also the LHS bolt was too long and had nipped the crancase breather hose , I had to shorten the bolt, and replace the hose.
Cheers
