Not much biking for me this summer

Post by craftycat »

For a good reason though!! I'm currently recuperating from a back op! 4 weeks ago I had surgery to put in a replacement lumbar disc! I had the L5 S1 disc ripped out and a nice shiny titanium one put in. Hubby now reckons I'm sponsored by Ohlins, my parents keep calling me Zebedee!!! Hubby also reckons he's duty bound to find out where the rebound damper is!!
All going well so far, I was up and walking the next day and last weekend managed to get my leg high enough to sit on my bike but it'll be a while yet before I can ride. 2 months of physio coming up and then I'll be bouncing back!!!

No shame in sitting on the bike while you turn the engine over for a bit, just keep a door open
All the best for the recovery.

PS Did they add any height? :)

Lol!!! I just remembered I was going to get hubby to measure my height after the op!!! Haven't been able to do it for a while because I was still a bit hunched over due to the scar but now I'm able to stand totally upright so I'll get him to check when he gets home!!!! In theory I should have, they jacked up the vertebrae to insert the disc and theoretically I should have gained about a centimetre. I know the profile of my spine is radically different now, my back really dips in at the base now, I have a proper curve whereas before it was virtually flat.

Mrs Evil Twin would use this as justification for a new warbrobe, with shoes to match of course!
