Front sprocket

Post by zorro »

Hi all,

Have done a quick search but can't find what I'm looking for,to remove the front sprocket there is a strange looking outer nut,a lock nut I guess, does a normal socket remove this, looks like about 18mm,or is there a special tool.
Also is there an alternative to a genuine Cagiva clutch cable either aftermarket or off some other make of bike etc, I'm sure I read something recently but can't find it either.

That "strange looking outer nut" = trigger for speedo sensor..... don't lose it :-)
Took a while for the penny to drop when I first saw it.... ("What the F?")

Oh yeah.... I don't think you need to use a socket on the 'trigger' (strange looking outer nut).
If I remember rightly there is a socket-head bolt (Allen key) on the end of the countershaft.
Removing this allows removal of the 'trigger'... then you can apply a big socket and a truck-load of brute strength to remove the nut.
Remember... lefty loosey

Have fun.

Hi RWS.

Thanks for advice however there's no socket head bolt on the end of the countershaft, there is a thread for it though,is it a bolt with a washer slightly wider than the countershaft to stop the speedo trigger and sprocket from working loose.
The speedo trigger is on real tight that's why I thought it was a lock nut,I defineatly need a socket to remove, looks like about 22mm (just the one I have'nt got).
