Socket Size

Post by Gavin »

Hi Guys/Girls,

Another question which I can't find in the manual.

Does anybody know the correct socket size for the rear wheel nut. Trying to do some chain adjustment but nothing fits it. Either too big or too small.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks
Gavin

It's a 28mm

not a common size and rarely part of any sets  - but part of the original toolkit

Thanks Snapdragon.

When I bought the bike, tool kit was missing.

 I just went out to check - the toolkit has a ring 28mm and an open ended 27mm(front wheel)

I got a Draper 28mm socket eventually, but a mechanic mate who was working on my bike and didn't have the size found an old british size fitted

11/8" fits perfectly. Should be freely available.

As mentioned, 28mm socket or ring spanner for Nut (should be socket and torque wrench by rights) and a 27mm open-end spanner for securing t'other side...

you can get a 28mm individual socket from any decent engineering merchants, tool shop or motor-factor...

for info

I second that, I tried 28/27mm sockets both fitted sort of but the 1 1/8" socket is perfect fit.

I got a 28mm from a store nearby for 1 EURO :) then cut it into two so it can fit in the bike. Works fine for more than a year now :)
