Advice please on gearbox assembly

Post by forza »

Hi, I am currently building back up my engine and gearbox and have a slight dilemma, the two gearshift fork shafts are different (one is hollow and the other solid) and I have mixed them up, they are the same diameters and lengths so will fit either way around but as they are different part numbers there must be a specific way which I can't work out from the manual or the drawings, does anyone know or have any suggestions please?

Hmmm:

From Fowlers parts diagram the two shafts are numbered 4 & 5 and from that can we assume it is also showing their relative positions?

https://www.fowlersparts.co.uk/parts/52 ... model-xyk1

Item 4 Shaft is 25411-02F20-000 and looks to be hollow in this diagram:

Item 5 Shaft is 25411-02F10-000 and looks to be solid in this diagram:

Other google image searches seem to confirm this.

And if you click on the link for the item 4 shaft 25411-02F20-000 that takes you to slightly different diagram that may help a little more with the respective orientation of the two shafts....

There again it may just confuse... :D :?

Although it does show which shaft has two forks and which has one.
