master cylinder help
ok so the hydraulic clutch conversion is finally underway and goin well so far. pictues to follow but does anbody know how to change the direction that the resovoir hose exits the master cylinder. it is attached to a little plastic thing that looks like it should just turn in the master cylinder but wont do so. it points the oposite way to the one on my standard raptor brake cylinder and is bugging me. any help would be greatly recieved

Re: master cylinder help
I don't (yet) but having just acquired one similar and there seems to be no moving it, held by an 'internal' circlip I don't have the right pliers. Will wait till I get over to my mate's shed to borrow some and have a further look
The ID on the mc itself is 4 Nissin 4B 5/8. Apparently it's a refurbished item off an FZR 1000.
maybe a longer joining tube will be required? I awaits answers to your question with interest

Re: master cylinder help
That should just turn around, there may be a little resistance as it needs to be a tight fit. I like The sv1000s clutch lever with the small cup already built into it. One of these would be nice to match the brake side

Re: master cylinder help
Yup, that should just turn, give it some gentle persuasion and maybe a bit of lube and you should be able to rotate it to the desired position.
The black rubber grommet in the MC should stay still while the plastic tube should rotate.

Re: master cylinder help
when I pull the grommet up I see the circlip which holds the tube and it's wider seating in place - would it be best to release the circlip before trying to swivel the tube? I can't move it - and afeared that it could break the tube if more force appliedCrap Tartan wrote:Yup, that should just turn, give it some gentle persuasion and maybe a bit of lube and you should be able to rotate it to the desired position.

Re: master cylinder help
Snap, is the circlip holding the plastic pipe in the grommet?
You shouldnt really pull the rubber grommet out unless you are going to replace as it makes the pressure seal.
The plastic pipe should rotate in the rubber grommet with the circlip just stopping the plastic pipe from pulling out of the grommet. I would be surprised if the circlip is stopping the pipe rotating?
All i can think is its gunged up or its been glued or sealed in there.

Re: master cylinder help
will try tomorrow if i get chance as its now on the bike and n
in my unit. the reason i need to turn the plastic thing is so that it faces the same way as the standard raptor one so both my new shiney CNC brake res are the same both sides
