Fender Extender

Post by Bfef »

Front downpipe corrosion is obviously a concern for many a Raptor owner, question is: Has anyone found a nice tidy way to extend the front mudguard down towards the road a few inches?

On my old Virago I made up a triangle of rubber that fit on pretty well but there's hardly any clearance between the mudguard and wheel on the Raptor so small screws etc protruding through aren't a good idea.

Are there any "universal" items known to fit well or look good? Perhaps you can recommend a purpose built add-on, or maybe you have a picture of yours you can link me to....

Cheers, H.

eurgjh scary :o
I dont have a fender extender - tried to fit one but theres no room for even mini bolts
so had fitted a skirt of thick rubber behind the radiator to protect the front pot from front wheel spray - not to protect the downpipes though

Looks like there's a bit missing, maybe a KTM type of fairing or summat judging by the lights.

She might belong to someone on here :o

I did take some, will try and find um, i'ts a piece of heavy (truck) mud flap screwed to the bottom of the rad so it hangs down to protect the front pot from the waterspout created by the front wheel in the wet

Having had to ride on one cylinder for 40 mile or so whilst on hols due to rain, it made me more determined to try and sort summat....I've attached this rubber and will report back next time I'm out in a downpour :D I know its not brill cosmetically but as long as it sorts the problem.

Should work that Jo51. I have some sort of plasticy flappy square bolted to the rad, in the same place, on my black SV, its works great, never had the front cut out. Other SV has a fender extenda cause its a tarts handbag!

Question did you do the radiator grill yourself? and whats it attached with?

Yes, I did the rad grill myself, much to hubby's dismay, he likes to feel useful
I followed a tip from someone on here, can't remember who at the mo, but all it is, is some ally mesh from B&Q then sprayed it black and some very large wire ties...total cost about £15.00 :D
