Measure the I.D. / O.D. & Thickness and take these dimensions down to your local bearing supplier

Welcome Grego :D

I'd take it to my local bearing supplier and let them identify it if I couldnt read the part code - I use a local engineering supplies place for bearings and they are well cheaper than the dealers.

Bearings

Post by Miz »

I am with the others on this, take a bearing into your local BSF, but make sure you tell them what the bearing is being used for, can make a difference to the tolerances in the bearing and how the cages are made.

bearing size front wheel

Post by pod »

Its an SKF 6005 2RS 1/C3,
The 4 digit code goes like this
1st digit 6 means metric
2nd digit 0 means extra light series
3rd and 4 th digits multiply by 5 to give inside bore.
2 RS is sealed both sides.
and 1 C3 is the fit tolerance.

ID 25 mm OD 47 mm , 12 mm wide, (edited for wrong width).

£4.85 each from bearing supplies online.

Very light compared with my BSAs 6204 bearings.
Cheers

okay guys,

i would like to comfirn this information. I just changed my bearings, and they were the correct ones. so

FAG/SKF 6005.2RSR.C3

ID 25 mm
OD 47 mm
width 12 mm (edited because i thought bore = width ;) cheers Pod)

I have a totally different bike now! So smooth! woo-hoow!

Changing the bearings was a piece of cake. Just punch the old ones out. I used lithium grease for mounting the new bearings. I used the old ones as base for knocking the new ones in.

cheers,
Jan
