Can't say I've had occasion to take it off but logic would suggest that, being on the left side, a right-hand thread would keep it tight on the output shaft. LH thread nuts usually have little notches on the corners as a telltale. These nuts often require a hammer gun to get them off so good luck!

Someone with actual knowledge ought to be along soon...

Cheers Nick, It came with the 2ft Breaker bar..

I kept second guessing it because the impact gun couldn't budge it.

Normal thread - when I've done mine I wrap a crowbar in a towel pass it through the rear wheel and lock it with the spokes/swingarm.

Quick brapp with the rattle gun and off it comes.

I was doing exactly this +1st gear, but the 10 year old 18v Snap on gun appears to be past its best.

Ah, Lidl middle aisle mains gun for me. Nice bit a torque and for the few times I need one it'salways been just the job.

Just don't use it on the footrest hanger hex bolts though... don't ask

Like Andy, I use a pretty cheap 240V rattle gun. Bloomin' thing is almost too heavy to hold and it packs a hefty kick!

Presumably you're changing the chain and sprockets? Have you found a source of supply?

The Ones Xavz's linked to in his post seem pretty good, he's bought and fitted them without problems.

Yep, those are the ones I've just fitted over Christmas. Sprockets are a bit plain (steel) compared to the fancy aluminium Renthals I've normally used but the chain is at least from a big name manufacturer. The free chain tool is a little fiddly but worked reasonably well.

We'll have to wait for a report on longevity.

It appears the renthal rear sprocket, 426-530, is pretty much unobtainable apart from fancy coloured made to measure ones at 66 sovs a pop www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renthal-Special-Colo ... 51c9e45853
