Bit late now with another vote for the Michelins but I've always fitted the PR3s. The bike is my daily & these are equally good in wet/cold/dry a last ~8KMichelin Pilot Road 4. Seems to be the go for all weather.

Re: Bird Strike
Ooo er, bird strikes are never good and it still amazes me just how many feathers they have. I knew a guy who was a passenger in a car that took a swan hit on the M40 and it went through the windscreen. Luckily he was wearing glasses because he said he was cleaning blood & guts from his ears, no...

Re: Rectifier regulator
should I fit it now... before the reg rec arrives or should it be all done together? Both times my reg/rec died it took the battery with it. The first time by boiling it dry & the second time by swelling it like a balloon. So If you want to use the bike it'll be best to wait for the reg/rec. BT...

Re: Rectifier regulator
To at least get some semblance of warning that the reg/rec is about to pop and possible save the battery I've invested in one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorcycle-12 ... 1810446914

Re: MOT or no MOT that is the question!
I notice you have a full caliper seal kit i.e. including the 2 joint O rings. It isn't an official Bembo one, is it? I thought they didn't supply repair spares anymore, due to possible litigation, and they are only avaible via KTM (?) dealers. And even then you can only ge the caliper seals & no...

Re: Sidestand and/or spring
Mighty kind offer there CT but hold forth for the moment because I've ordered a couple of springs one from wemoto & another from ebay. And I reckon at least one of them should work. Besides it'd be a shame to split up the stand parts as I only need the spring - which in all probability will just...

Re: MOT or no MOT that is the question!
and immediately the clutch slip got worse.... Are you 100% sure you have adjusted the clutch cable/actuator correctly? The actuator must not prevent the push rod from fully releasing, hence the 1/4 turn back after the screw is just touching the rod. It's a right old fiddle and the manual doesn't ex...

Re: Sidestand and/or spring
Just seen an exhaust spring which is the same length but too small a diameter to contain the smaller spring.
So why do we have/need two springs?

Sidestand and/or spring
Just noticed the larger of the two sidestand springs has broken.
A quick look on ebay shows a spring of roughly the same size might work but does anyone know of suitable replacements for either the spring or complete stand?

Hurrah! One advisory, curly brake lever What is it for weird advisories? I had one for 'chain too tight'! Errm 108,600. I think,, ? Good lord & here's me thinking I was doing well at 35k (@1k a month) Still at work but I may well have a 'christmas tea' (a cuppa with a tot of scotch in) just for ...

16K miles later and just checked the clearances again. All are within tolerances with all the inlets unchanged and all the exhausts tightening up a touch.

Re: I hate bank holiday weekends.
Although it did give me time to pop the caliper pistons out to clean & red rubber grease the seals to, hopefully, cure the sticking brake. Thought I'd add a little more info on how I did this. After undoing the master cylinder cap I pushed all the pistons in on one of the calipers and then zip ...

Re: Parts Listing
Fork seal/bush components can got from Brookes Suspension http://www.brooksuspension.co.uk/ Don't do what I did & buy them via the manufacturer/model/year list (05 - 08 ??) as these are too big and are probably for the X-Raptor. You need to buy them by size which are: Fork slide bushes - 43.7 od...

Re: Rear exhaust header
defo need to drop the pipes to do the union but you dont need to take the rear stub off, maybe just loosen a little to make it easier. Ahh, I understand now  ! If I do have have to loosen the bolts I might as well take 'em out to clean with a good dollop of anti seize on re-assembly. Give the ...

Re: Rear exhaust header
I did a quick check this morning after starting him up and you're right - it's definitely coming from the union. But to replace it's gasket I still need to remove the complete system, correct? I did notice the bolt holding the union clamp is rusted to buggery, and possibly loosened things, so I may ...
